BMW 135i, 335i N54 & N55 engines.
We think these cars are going to be the next big thing in performance circles in Australia. In standard road trim they are seriously impressive, straight out of the box, from the factory. They punch out over 300 horsepower with their twin turbo direct injection engine, although the later engines ditched the twin turbo engine for a single twin scroll turbo. With a few minor modifications, like an exhaust with turbo dump pipes and a front mount intercooler, you can turn this beast into an M3 killer. Add a JB4 piggy back ecu and some custom intake charge pipes, silicon wastegate vacuum hoses and you will be pumping out over 500hp and if you so desire, running 11 second 1/4 mile times. Very impressive indeed, especially considering that these are essentially bolt on modifications.
Mercedes A45 AMG, M133 engine 2013 onwards
The Mercedes A45 AMG was released onto the market and was the first A class developed by AMG. It was somewhat of a game changer as the power output was said to be the most powerful four cylinder production car engine ever produced at 265 kw. Coupled with ridiculous WRC popping exhaust crackles slick gear shifting from the dual clutch gearbox sending power to all four wheels, you are guaranteed to be smiling from ear to ear. The car was put in a more affordable price range for an AMG Mercedes, starting at just over $70k. Sure not small change but a few years later you can now pick one of these beasts up for under $60k second hand. Certainly a more exciting car than the traditional 4WD offerings like the Subaru WRX or Mitsubishi Evo.
Whilst you may think the power output of these cars is ample, add an Armytrix valvetronic exhaust and a Armytron tuning box and you will increase power by another 25%! Certainly an improvement and will keep you ahead of those Evo’s and WRX’s…
